In recent developments, Hezbollah has been firing various types of rockets and missiles from Lebanon toward northern Israel, increasing the tension along the border. Hezbollah launched over 100 rockets into northern Israel in September 2024, targeting Israeli military positions. Many of these missiles are reportedly supplied by Iran and are highly sophisticated, designed specifically for Hezbollah’s operations.
One of the deadliest incidents occurred when a missile struck a soccer field in the Druze town of Majdal Shams, killing 12 young people. Despite Hezbollah’s denial, Israeli and U.S. intelligence identified the missile as an Iranian-made weapon used by Hezbollah. In retaliation, Israel has conducted extensive airstrikes, targeting Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, marking the most intense escalation since the 2006 war. Over 270 people have reportedly been killed in these strikes.
Both Hezbollah and Israel seem to be preparing for the possibility of an expanded conflict, though full-scale war has not yet broken out. Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Netanyahu, have emphasized their intent to change the security dynamics in the region. This growing conflict is drawing in attention from other regional powers as well, such as Iran and Turkey, further complicating the situation
