Hurricane Beryl has struck Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula after causing devastation across the Caribbean, resulting in at least 10 deaths.

The hurricane made landfall early on Friday as a Category 2 storm, with winds reaching up to 175 km/h (108 mph).

Although it was later downgraded to a tropical storm, it is anticipated to re-intensify over the Gulf of Mexico this weekend.

Beryl brought heavy rain to tourist destinations Cancún and Tulum. While no major damage was reported, the high winds uprooted trees and caused power outages.
