Australian authorities have discovered human remains during their search for a 12-year-old believed to have been attacked by a crocodile. The child was last seen swimming with family near the remote Aboriginal town of Nganmarriyanga, southwest of Darwin in the Northern Territory. Senior Sgt Erica Gibson expressed condolences, emphasizing the devastating impact on the family and community. The search involved up to 40 community members and various resources including foot patrols, boats, and helicopters, navigating challenging terrain. While a crocodile was reported in the vicinity, its current status remains undisclosed. Wildlife officers have been authorized to relocate the crocodile once found, underscoring safety concerns in a region home to an estimated 100,000 saltwater crocodiles.
