Two Nigerian soldiers are set to face trial for their involvement in a drone bombing incident that resulted in the deaths of dozens of civilians in Kaduna state last year. The defense headquarters announced that the soldiers will be subjected to a court martial for their actions or inactions related to the incident, which claimed the lives of at least 85 civilians on December 3rd during a Muslim religious observance. The state governor initially described the casualties as the result of a military drone mistakenly targeting terrorists and bandits. Following the incident, President Bola Tinubu ordered an inquiry into what he termed a “bombing mishap.” A military spokesperson revealed on Thursday that after an exhaustive investigation, disciplinary measures have been instigated. Major General Edward Buba underscored that the tragedy was indeed a mistake and assured that the military is implementing measures to prevent such civilian casualties in the future.
