Police reported that a 13-year-old boy succumbed to injuries in a sword attack in Hainault, east London, earlier today. Additionally, two police officers and three others sustained injuries, but their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening. The 36-year-old suspect was swiftly apprehended, just 22 minutes after the initial call, following the use of a Taser. Authorities have clarified that the incident is not linked to terrorism. Initially, law enforcement responded to reports of a vehicle crashing into a house around 07:00 BST. Both the Metropolitan Police and local MP West Streeting, representing Ilford North, which encompasses Hainault, shared details of the incident. Streeting, also the shadow health secretary, expressed gratitude towards emergency services and commended the bravery of the Metropolitan Police officers involved. He confirmed the arrest and assured that no other suspects are being sought. Streeting pledged to keep the community informed and expressed solidarity with the injured and their families, stating that he is coordinating efforts with the mayor of London, the London borough of Redbridge, and law enforcement agencies.
