Ukraine’s central Dnipropetrovsk region faced two devastating strikes by Russian forces, resulting in the loss of eight lives, including two children, as confirmed by officials.

The city of Dnipro experienced an assault on its main station, while the town of Synelnykove suffered damage to residential homes. President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the urgent necessity for robust air defenses in every urban area.

Additionally, Ukraine reported a significant achievement in downing a long-range bomber in Russian territory for the first time. Among the casualties, six individuals, including two children aged six and eight, tragically lost their lives due to strikes on private residences in Synelnykove.

In Dnipro, two more fatalities and numerous injuries occurred when a five-story building was hit. Rescue operations are ongoing, with authorities warning of potentially more victims amid the rubble.

The ongoing conflict has underscored Ukraine’s dire need for advanced weaponry to counter Russian aggression, prompting calls for increased military assistance from NATO. Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force announced the successful interception of a Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber, which was targeting Ukrainian cities with Kh-22 cruise missiles.

Although Stavropol regional governor Vladimir Vladimirov confirmed the crash of the bomber on Russian soil, details about the fate of the crew remain unclear. Ukrainian Air Force Chief Lt Gen Mykola Oleschuk revealed that two out of six Kh-22 cruise missiles fired by Russia were neutralized, marking a significant defensive victory.
