The tragic incident involving Kulsuma Akter, a 27-year-old mother from Oldham nr Manchester who was stabbed to death while pushing her baby in a pram through Bradford West Yorkshire, has deeply saddened the community. Despite the heinous attack, her baby fortunately escaped unharmed.
The murder suspect, Habibur Masum, 25, remains at large, prompting a widespread police search. A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with the case.
Assistant Chief Constable Damien Miller described the attack as a multiple stabbing, emphasizing the severity of the crime. While the relationship between Ms. Akter and Mr. Masum has not been confirmed, police have stated that they were known to each other.
Following the incident, raids have been conducted in Oldham, Burnley, and Chester, with the arrest of the 23-year-old man in Cheshire. Both West Yorkshire Police and Greater Manchester Police have referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to prior contact with the individuals involved.
