Rebel Wilson’s autobiography, “Rebel Rising,” faced a delay in its release in the UK and Australia. Initially slated for release on Wednesday in Australia and Thursday in the UK following its US debut on Tuesday, the book will now hit shelves in the UK on April 25th.
According to publisher HarperCollins, the delay is to synchronize with Rebel Wilson’s upcoming press tours in these regions.
The book has garnered attention for Wilson’s candid account of her collaboration with Sacha Baron Cohen. Wilson described her experience working on Baron Cohen’s 2016 film “Grimsby” as deeply troubling, citing instances of feeling humiliated and sexually harassed on set.
Baron Cohen vehemently denied Wilson’s claims, asserting that they are “demonstrably false” and contradicted by substantial evidence, including documents, footage, and eyewitness accounts.
The controversy escalated when the Daily Mail released outtake footage from the film, prompting Wilson to accuse the publication of “bullying and gaslighting.”
Despite the focus on this particular incident, Wilson emphasized during an appearance on Kelly Clarkson’s talk show that her book is not solely centered on her experiences with Baron Cohen.
Wilson is set to embark on a promotional tour for the book, starting in Edinburgh, Manchester, and London in late April before moving on to Australia in May.
Sacha Baron Cohen, known for his bold comedic style and iconic characters like Ali G and Borat, has built his career on audacious humor and controversial antics.
