A car bombing in the bustling market of Azaz, northern Syria, has claimed the lives of at least seven individuals, with several others injured. The attack occurred in Aleppo province, near the Turkish border. Responsibility for the bombing remains unclear, occurring in a town controlled by pro-Turkish militias opposed to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The explosion took place during a busy shopping period as residents prepared for Eid al-Fitr, the end of Ramadan. Tragically, two children were among the casualties, according to reports from the White Helmets. The aftermath revealed scenes of destruction, with damaged buildings and the remnants of the detonated vehicle. Although no group has claimed responsibility, Azaz has been a frequent target for such attacks, given its strategic significance as a supply route and its proximity to the Turkish border. In 2017, a similar bombing outside the town’s courthouse resulted in over 40 fatalities, with the Islamic State group claiming responsibility.
