It looks like the UK is in for some varied weather over the next few days:

  • Today: Windy with heavy rain in Northern Ireland and Scotland, followed by heavy, thundery showers later on. Cloudy with patchy rain in northern England and Wales. Sunny spells and variable cloud elsewhere.
  • Tonight: Showers continuing in north-western areas, possibly wintry over the hills. Clear spells developing elsewhere with just a few areas of cloud, mainly in the south. It’s expected to be a colder night than recent ones.
  • Sunday: A dry and bright start expected, but it will become windy in the afternoon with variable cloud and scattered showers, mainly in the north and west. Some of these showers might merge into longer spells of rain at times. Cooler temperatures are anticipated in the north.
  • Outlook for Monday to Wednesday: Heavy rain overnight into Monday, clearing southeastward in the morning. This will be followed by a mix of sunny spells and scattered, blustery showers, which could be heavy at times and even wintry in northern and western hills. Tuesday will bring a northerly flow with showers for many areas, although it should be drier to the west. Wednesday might see a few lingering showers, particularly wintry on the hills.

Be prepared for fluctuating conditions, especially if you have outdoor plans.
