Russian missile strikes in Ukraine’s Odesa region claimed the lives of four individuals, including a 10-year-old girl, and wounded seven others, leaving one with amputated legs, according to Governor Oleh Kiper. The attacks caused damage to transport infrastructure. These strikes occurred on the 80th anniversary of Odesa’s liberation from the Nazis during World War II. Prior to this, three people were killed in Russian attacks in the Kharkiv region. The recent assaults, which include targeting Ukraine’s energy sector, are intensifying. Ukrainian officials allege Russian forces are utilizing double-tap tactics, launching a second strike to target rescuers. Governor Kiper reported the use of ballistic missiles in the Odesa strikes, though the exact number wasn’t specified. Meanwhile, in the Kharkiv region, casualties resulted from an attack on a pharmacy in the village of Lyptsi. Attacks on Kharkiv have been escalating, prompting concerns of a potential Russian offensive. The city has already suffered extensive damage from ongoing bombardment since Russia’s invasion in 2022. Ukrainian forces face challenges as ammunition supplies dwindle due to delays in US military aid, stalled by political obstacles in Congress. General Christopher Cavoli warned that without American support, Ukraine’s ammunition and air defense capabilities would diminish rapidly, potentially tipping the balance in favor of Russia.
