Tonight: Mostly cloudy in the north with showers affecting northeast Scotland, turning to snow on the hills. Some clear breaks are expected in west Scotland. Showery rain will persist in the south, becoming heavy at times.

Thursday: Lingering rain in the east will largely clear, leaving dry conditions for a time with some brightness in the south. However, a band of rain is forecasted to move in from the southwest later in the afternoon.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday: Friday is anticipated to be unsettled and windy with outbreaks of rain pushing northwards, bringing snow to northern Scotland. Rain will clear to sunny spells in the south later in the day. Another pulse of heavy rain is expected to spread across the UK overnight into Saturday, accompanied by very strong winds. Saturday is predicted to be very mild. Conditions are expected to turn drier and brighter on Sunday as lingering rain in the north clears, with winds easing.
