Leaders from seven of the world’s wealthiest nations are convening in Italy for a summit anticipated to approve a plan to utilize frozen Russian assets to generate billions of dollars for Ukraine.

The US proposal could raise $50 billion (£39 billion) annually for Ukraine while also imposing additional economic pressure on Russia.

Other key topics expected on the G7 summit agenda include the conflict in Gaza, migration, economic security, and artificial intelligence (AI).

The summit occurs as several leaders, including Rishi Sunak, Emmanuel Macron, and Joe Biden, face electoral challenges in their home countries.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is trailing in the polls ahead of a general election next month.

French President Emmanuel Macron’s party faces voters soon after he called a snap parliamentary election following a significant defeat to the far-right National Rally in last weekend’s EU parliamentary elections.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and US President Joe Biden could also face electoral defeat in their upcoming elections.

Italy’s Giorgia Meloni has declared that her country is entering the summit with “the strongest government of all,” following a strong showing in the recent European elections.

Keep on poking the the Bear and don’t be surprised when it turns round and bites, the continued provocation by our foolish western leaders under Sleepy Joe Biden are putting the west on a big collision course with Russia and China. The continued warlike rhetoric is going to rebound badly, poorly thought out comments and foolhardy actions have consequences, with wars now raging on nearly every continent and the UN coming under attack from its own founding members in a transparent attempt to hide their allies war atrocities, doesn’t give much hope for world peace, which isn’t achieved by pouring more weapons into war zones or conceiving one sided ceasefire plans which don’t have a hope in hell of being accepted.
