Oliver Cromwell dissolved the Rump Parliament in April 1653, the Nominated Assembly, commonly known as the Barebones Parliament, was established in July of the same year. However, it didn’t last long either and was dissolved in December 1653. This paved the way for Cromwell to become Lord Protector in December 1653, marking the beginning of the Protectorate era in England.
